Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Take Wedding Planning ‘One Day at a Time’ Amid New Album Release

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are savoring their engagement while gearing up for their first collaborative album, I Said I Love You First, set to drop on Friday, March 21. The couple opened up about their wedding plans and creative journey in an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone published on Monday, March 17.

A Dream Wedding in the Making

While Gomez, 32, has envisioned multiple wedding scenarios, Blanco, 37, emphasized that they are taking things slow and enjoying the moment.

“I think every day she’s planned a new wedding in her head,” Blanco shared. “We’re very much ‘take it one day at a time’ type of people. We’re still not over this moment. Literally, while you were talking, she was sitting there staring at her ring.”

Gomez echoed his sentiment, explaining that their priority right now is their music. “I genuinely feel like this is such a special time. We get to pour our hearts into this album and bring our emotions to the world. That’s my main focus right now.”

A Proposal to Remember

Gomez revealed her engagement in December 2024, showing off an exquisite oval-shaped ring with a marquise-cut diamond, estimated to be six carats. Blanco proposed during a romantic picnic featuring Taco Bell, a favorite of the couple.

When asked about the simplicity of the proposal, Blanco responded, “We’re just living our life every day. There’s not this whole elaborate thing. We’re lucky to be surrounded by great people, and we’ve been enjoying every moment.”

Reflecting on their relationship, Blanco admitted that their deep connection made him wish they had gotten together sooner. “I’ve known her since she was 18. My biggest regret is that we didn’t do this earlier. But I know it was perfect and meant to be.”

A Musical Collaboration Like No Other

Gomez also opened up about the therapeutic experience of working on I Said I Love You First with Blanco. Having released her last album, Rare, five years ago, she struggled with her musical direction before finding inspiration through their relationship.

“I was frustrated and confused about where I wanted to go next musically. Since we had been together for a while, I confided in him,” Gomez said.

Blanco described the creative process as organic and deeply personal. “She’d wake up, I’d have a pen out, and I’d write what was on her mind. Then we’d go into the other room and turn it into a song. It was such a cathartic and therapeutic experience.”

With wedding plans evolving and a highly anticipated album on the way, Gomez and Blanco are embracing this exciting chapter in their lives, one step at a time.
