Diane Keaton’s Final Weeks Revealed as Friends Share Heartbreaking Details About Her Last Days

Hollywood is mourning the loss of Diane Keaton, one of cinema’s most beloved stars, who passed away at the age of 79 on October 11 in California. Best known for her iconic roles in Annie Hall and The Godfather, the Oscar-winning actress left behind not only a legendary film career but also a deep impact on everyone who knew her.

Now, her closest friends are speaking out about her final weeks — revealing touching, emotional details about how the legendary actress spent her last days.

Diane Keaton’s Friend Opens Up About Her Health

Carole Bayer Sager, a longtime friend and Oscar-winning songwriter, opened up about her final visit with Keaton just weeks before her passing.

“I saw her two or three weeks ago, and she was very thin,” Sager shared. “She had lost so much weight.”

Keaton had been spending time in Palm Springs after wildfires damaged her California home earlier this year. Sager explained, “She had to go to Palm Springs because her house had been damaged inside, and they had to clean everything. When she came back, I was kind of stunned by how much weight she’d lost.”

Despite her frail appearance, Keaton remained full of energy and light. “She was so special, she just lit up a room with her energy,” Sager said. “She was happy, upbeat, and always creating something new.”

The Icon Who Never Stopped Shining

Even in her final months, Diane Keaton stayed true to herself — stylish, witty, and endlessly creative. “She went to the movies always dressed like she was about to shoot another scene for Annie Hall,” Sager recalled. “She’d wear her hats, her jackets, her baggy pants, and belts. She was a fashion icon of her own making.”

Another close friend told that Keaton remained “funny right up until the end,” adding that “she lived exactly how she wanted to — on her own terms, surrounded by the people and things she really loved.”

A Look Back at Her Health Journey

Throughout her life, Keaton was open about her health struggles. In a 2015 interview with the Los Angeles Times, she revealed her family’s long history with skin cancer. “It’s a family history,” she said. “My father had basal skin cancer, my brother had it, and my aunt had it so bad they removed her nose.”

She also admitted that she didn’t take skincare seriously in her youth. “Back in my 20s I didn’t pay attention much. That was stupid because it’s dogged me my entire adult life.”

Keaton faced multiple surgeries after developing both basal and squamous cell carcinoma. She was also candid about her past battle with bulimia, describing how she once consumed as much as 20,000 calories a day before seeking professional help.

A Legacy of Light and Creativity

In her final social media post, Diane Keaton shared a tender photo of herself with her beloved Golden Retriever, Reggie. The caption read: “Proof our pets have great taste too! Happy National Pet Day from HG & @diane_keaton.”

It was a fitting final glimpse of a woman who filled the world with warmth, wit, and authenticity.

As tributes pour in from fans and fellow actors, Diane Keaton’s legacy remains eternal — a timeless example of courage, humor, and grace.
