Taylor Swift Officially Reclaims Ownership of Her First Six Albums

Taylor Swift now owns the rights to her entire music catalog, including her iconic first six studio albums. In a heartfelt message shared on her official website, the global pop sensation announced that she has successfully acquired the rights to all her original recordings, marking a historic moment in her career.

“All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me. Every single era. My entire life’s work,” Swift wrote.

A Dream Two Decades in the Making

Swift revealed that she has spent nearly 20 years trying to regain control over her early discography: Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and Reputation. These albums were initially released under Big Machine Records and later sold to Scooter Braun in 2019. The rights were subsequently transferred to Shamrock Capital in late 2020.

After years of legal and emotional battles, Swift has now bought back her masters from Shamrock Capital.

“To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,” she shared.

The Power of “Taylor’s Version”

To reclaim ownership of her work, Swift began re-recording her albums and releasing them as Taylor’s Version. So far, four of the six albums have been re-released with overwhelming support from fans around the world.

“You know how important this has been to me—so much so that I meticulously re-recorded and released four of my albums,” Swift said.

These re-recordings not only give Swift full control over her creative legacy but also offer fans new versions of their favorite songs, along with unreleased tracks “from the vault.”

Full Control Over Her Creative Work

With the buyback, Taylor Swift now owns the rights to:

  • All six original albums
  • Unreleased songs
  • Music videos
  • Concert films
  • Album artwork
  • Official photography

This level of control is rare in the music industry, particularly for artists who began their careers under traditional record deals.

Gratitude for the Fans

Swift credited her fans for their unwavering support throughout her journey to reclaim her music.

“I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now.”

What’s Next for Reputation and Taylor Swift (Debut)?

Many fans expected Swift to announce the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version). However, she addressed the speculation, saying the re-recording of Reputation has proven emotionally challenging.

“The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life. I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it.”

Swift also confirmed that her debut album, Taylor Swift, has been fully re-recorded. While she didn’t give a release date, she assured fans that when those two albums return, it will be “a celebration.”

“It won’t be from a place of sadness and longing. It will just be a celebration now.”

Continuing to Make History

In the midst of reclaiming her past, Swift continues to shape the future of music. Her latest studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, has topped charts worldwide, and her record-breaking Eras Tour continues to captivate fans across the globe.
