Ben Affleck has opened up about his divorce from Jennifer Lopez for the first time in a revealing interview. In the conversation, the actor and director shed light on their relationship’s end, providing a more personal perspective on what led to their split.

Affleck, 52, emphasized that their divorce wasn’t the result of a dramatic scandal or event. “There’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue,” he explained. He further clarified that there isn’t a singular moment that caused their separation. Instead, it was simply a natural process of two people navigating their lives and relationships, as many couples do.
“There’s no: ‘This is what happened,’” he said, explaining that relationships evolve in complex ways over time.
Vulnerability and the Ordinary Nature of Breakups
Affleck, who is known for being private about his personal life, admitted that discussing the reasons behind their breakup felt vulnerable. He likened the conversation to a couple’s therapy session, noting that it could be uncomfortable for others to hear. “It’s really, it sounds more like a couple’s therapy session, which… you would tune out of someone else’s couple’s therapy after a while,” he said.
He also mentioned that sharing too much felt “embarrassing,” which is why he had kept details private for so long.

While walking through Times Square on their way to a Broadway show, they were swarmed by fans. “We get out of the car, we were going to a play, and I was like, ‘F*** it, babe, we’re going to be late, we gotta walk a block and a half,’” Affleck said, recalling the chaotic experience.
