Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 55-year-old music mogul, was discreetly transported from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn to a nearby hospital late Thursday night. He was taken under cover of darkness for a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan on his knee, according to The New York Post.
Why Was Diddy Taken to the Hospital?
A source revealed that Combs has been suffering from knee pain, an issue that dates back to his participation in the 2003 New York Marathon. While training for the grueling 26.2-mile race, he developed severe tendinitis in his right knee, as reported by CBS News.
Despite the injury, Combs completed the marathon in 4 hours, 14 minutes, and 54 seconds, raising $2 million for children’s charities. Reflecting on the experience, he said, “Never in my life have I ever experienced anything as crazy as this.”
Diddy’s History of Knee Issues
Over the years, Combs has faced recurring knee problems and has undergone multiple surgeries:
- 2015 – He had knee surgery after experiencing persistent pain for two years.
- 2017 – He underwent his third knee operation within a year.
Diddy’s Legal Troubles and Life in Prison
Combs has been held at MDC Brooklyn since September 2024 while awaiting trial. He faces serious charges, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his trial is set to begin on May 5, 2025.
MDC Brooklyn has faced ongoing criticism for its harsh conditions, including reports of violence, poor medical care, and unsanitary living environments. These concerns have sparked debates about inmate treatment and prison reform.
What’s Next for Diddy?
Following his medical exam, Combs was quickly returned to his cell. His legal team has not commented on whether his health issues will impact his trial or lead to a request for better medical care.
